Meet The Person Behind 9JaStyleChannel On Instagram
07:10Awhile back, I was checking out Instagram pages when I stumbled upon a style page called 9jastylechannel, a particular post caught my attention. It was when the admin on the page decided to address an issue where someone had asked if fashion was necessary, I went further to read what he had to say and I was truly impressed so I decided to feature him on my blog. So here it is, the interview with the brain behind 9jaStyleChannel though he would like to keep his identity private so no personal picture of him.
Please introduce yourself
My name is Dominic
How old are you and are you a student?
I am 19, no I'm a graduate.
What inspired you to base your Instagram account on fashion and when did you start?
I became a believer in fashion as an African inspiration so I kicked off a style community on the 1st January 2015. Back then, I think 4 months ago, I called it 9jastylechannel.
Describe your style in one word
My style....my style is basic
Are you into fashion as a designer, stylist or you are just a fashion lover?
My style is basic. Nothing so major to it. I'm just a lover of fashion with an African inspiration. I'm not a designer.
Were you always a fashion lover?
Like I said earlier, I became a believer, I was an ordinary guy indifferent about fashion especially those in relation to our roots well I can say it happened spontaneously, it's not something that I really prepared for, I really can't explain it.
Are you specific about the kind of style you upload on IG?
Yes...yes I'm specific with the sort of content I post on my page, fashion in Nigeria is a huge deal, it's something that is various and in constant motion, keep growing, the reward is limitless so I base my post on mainly African style.
So what brought about African inspiration?
I myself together with the people I inspire with my post are all undergoing a certain type of transition.
Who is your role model?
Mai Atafo is a superb designer. He's probably someone I think I can look up to. It's nice seeing these designers stay true to our roots. Asides the fact that it brings out uniqueness in their works it's also a great form of communication. It's something we relate to quickly.
Ok so what's your favorite fashion item?
Shoes.
