MakeupByZiza: 10 Common Makeup Mistakes Women Make
11:16Hi everybody so today I will be putting you through the common makeup mistakes women make. Nobody is perfect but hopefully we all learn from our mistakes.
1. Applying Foundation On A Dry Flaky Skin
This could be a huge problem, no matter how creamy a foundation is, it won't conceal a dry skin in fact it makes it look old and tired. So remember to exfoliate and moisturise daily and you could also use a moisturizing primer before applying foundation.
2. Putting On Too Much Blush
Except your aim is to look like a clown, this is a no-no, always have your skin tone in mind when selecting the right shade of blush. Fair skin with rosy or pink tone, olive skin with warmer tone and dark skin with berry or plum. For proper placement, swirl the blush directly on the apple of the cheek blending back towards the temple, make sure it blends well with your skin but if it's too bright, apply little powder on that area to tone it down. You could also use a blush brush to apply, they are usually angled.
3. Excess Powdering
Even though I usually suggest using translucent powder after applying makeup, try not to overpowder. It could make the face look white and cakey so remember to use very little and apply on your T-zone before blending to every area. Also never over powder an oily skin, you will end up with a chalky appearance so when choosing powder other than the translucent one, pick the right shade, the one that blends perfectly into your skin.
4. Choosing The Wrong Under-Eye Concealer
This is a very common mistake, women mostly think using a concealer a shade or two lighter brightens up the eyes but instead it creates unwanted attention so when shopping for under eye concealer make sure to pick your correct shade and also orange concealer works best with most skin tones to conceal darkness. To apply, dab concealer under eye area, working from the outside to inner corner then even out your complexion with foundation and set with powder.
5. Over Exaggerated Eyebrow
This is the worst, some women like to create high brow arch which makes the brows look unreal. Every woman was born with a natural arch and if you weren't, you could try to create a tiny invisible one without exaggerating and creating an upside down 'V'. Another thing, no eyebrow is black so ditch using black pencil to line your brows, you will end up looking awkward. Instead take a shade lighter, there are different shades of brown, brunettes use a shade lighter than their hair colour while blondes fill in sparseness with one shade darker. Use a spooly brush, direct your brow upwards at 45 degree angle and fill in with pencil or set with brow gel.
6. Using Mismatched Foundation
I believe a foundation should be invisible fitting perfectly into the skin while concealing facial imperfections. So using a foundation lighter or darker will definitely fail to achieve such feel. Always test your foundation on your jawline or apply at the back of your palm, if it blends well and disappears then it's your shade. Remember to blend all the way to the jawline and neck.
7. Bad Bronzer Techniques
To prevent your face from looking beat up or muddy, apply bronzer lightly on your T-zone sweeping it across the forehead (along the hairline), bridge of the nose, cheeks and tip of the chin. You could take a sweep of highlighter on the top of the cheekbone.
8. Skipping Primer
Even though I failed to mention primer in my last post, it is very essential in getting that flawless face. So to bring that shine down in an oily skin, apply mattifying face primer before applying foundation. Always have wipes or toilet paper to blot during the day.
